Eulogy
Founded in 2019 by Domm Holland, Allison Barr Allen and Joshua Abulafia to bring Amazon's one-click checkout to everyone else. It raised more than $120 million, including a $102 million round led by Stripe, and spent heavily on a brand that felt much larger than the business underneath it — roughly $600,000 of revenue in its final year. It was trying to raise again above a $1 billion valuation when the money ran out. It closed in April 2022.
Lessons for the living
Fundraising velocity and revenue velocity are different things, and only one of them makes payroll.
